Eye Care

Caring for your child's eyes

Your child’s eyesight affects more than their ability to see. Hand eye coordination, sports performance and self-confidence can all be affected by poor vision in childhood.

Our eyes develop in the first decade of life so it is important that any problems are treated in this time. Thankfully most eye problems are reversible if treated early enough and may require nothing more than glasses. Your child experiences many changes in their early years and we are dedicated to making sure that good vision is a natural part of that process.

If there is a history in your family of eye problems such as glasses, squints and 'lazy eyes', it is especially important for your children to be tested. Every child should have a full test by an optometrist, even if they have had a school or nursery screening, preferably by the age of two. Your child does not need to be able to read for a test to be accurate; we have tests especially designed for your little ones. Your optometrist will be delighted to tailor the test for your child.

Other conditions which can affect your child's development, such as dyslexia, may be helped by an appointment at a specialist colourimetry clinic.

Children's glasses are more stylish than ever. We have fantastic, stylish frames specially designed for little faces. Brands such as Disney Princess, Converse Junior and BMX are sure to catch the imagination!

There is no 'suitable' age for contact lenses, instead the decision whether you and your child are ready for them is completely individual. Nobody knows them better than you. With the expert guidance of our team combined with modern, comfortable lens materials and easy care systems, if you decide to try them we will guide you through the process.
